About the position

BSI's Consulting Services Division in the Northern California Bay Area is looking for mid to senior level Healthcare Safety Consultant with experience in EHS consulting and/or corporate EHS program management who are highly motivated by the cultivation of long-term and mutually rewarding relationships with clients, coworkers, and partners. The successful candidates will have a history of performing healthcare safety technical work and servicing clients. Successful candidates should also have industry experience within healthcare (including hospitals, biotechnology, pharmaceutical or medical devices).

Responsibilities

  • Developing strategic plans to implement and design written EHS programs and procedures specific to the Healthcare industry to include: Injury and Illness Prevention, Emergency Action Plan, Ergonomics, Chemical Hygiene, BioSafety, Hazardous Materials (chemical and biological), Radiation Safety, Controlled Substance, Safe Patient Handling, Environment of Care.
  • Performing basic project management and internal customer management.
  • Job Hazard Analysis and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Assisting clients with Regulatory Inspections to include (Joint Commission, OSHA, CUPA, Medical Waste, Radiation, Controlled Substance, Fire Department, Storm Water, EPA, and BAAQMD).
  • Developing and delivering First Aid, CPR, and Emergency Response training, drills, and programs.
  • May supervise and/or mentor junior staff.

Requirements

  • This position requires a BS in a related EHS field, prefer an MS.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) / Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or ASP/CSP Eligible (CHSP desirable).
  • Medical degree - nursing, emergency medical technician (EMT), physical therapist/occupational therapist is a plus.
  • Certified to train First Aid / CPR / AED courses is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience with hospital health and safety programs.
  • Direct experience working in a hospital setting.
