About the position

The Healthcare Simulation Instructional Designer position at Owensboro Community & Technical College is a full-time role that focuses on developing instructional best practices and applying simulation standards of best practice using technology. This position is part of HealthForce Kentucky and is responsible for training content experts to deliver end-user training effectively. The role requires a strong commitment to innovation and creativity in instructional design, ensuring that faculty and staff are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to enhance their teaching methodologies. As this is an in-person position, the designer will work closely with faculty to create innovative course development utilizing various advanced technologies, including Echo Immersive Software, zSpace 3D computers, Anatomage Software, and other healthcare simulation-based equipment. The designer will also be tasked with researching and implementing strategies to improve content delivery and professional development opportunities for HealthForce Kentucky and its components. This includes maintaining and promoting the use of the Professional Development and organization site, which involves scheduling, posting documentation, reporting, and managing media checkout. The role emphasizes the importance of actively seeking innovative teaching and learning methods, sharing best practices, and providing training to faculty and staff. Additionally, the designer will implement and provide technical support to ensure that faculty and staff can effectively utilize the resources available to them. This position is grant-funded, and its continuation is contingent upon future funding.

Responsibilities

  • Train and assist faculty with creating innovative course development utilizing Echo Immersive Software, zSpace 3D computers, Anatomage Software, and healthcare simulation-based equipment.
  • Research and implement ways to improve content delivery and professional development opportunities for HealthForce Kentucky and the components served.
  • Maintain and promote faculty and staff use of the Professional Development and organization site, including scheduling, posting documentation, reporting, and media checkout.
  • Actively look for innovative ways to teach & learn, sharing best practices, and training others using physical and electronic resources.
  • Implement, train, and provide technical support to faculty and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Communications, Human Resources Training & Development, or Technical Writing.
  • Two years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated skills with Microsoft software, Blackboard or other CMS, web development, healthcare simulators, and multimedia presentation preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills required.
  • High level of customer service is essential.
