About the position

The HEART Program Coordinator at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center (The Ashe Center). This position is dedicated to providing high-quality, research-informed health promotion, support, and training for the diverse student community at UCLA, which includes undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The Program Coordinator will work collaboratively with team members to design and implement various health programs while also establishing infrastructural processes that contribute to the overall success of the HEART initiative. The Ashe Center is renowned for its comprehensive health services, which encompass Primary Care, Gynecology Services, Immunizations, Travel Medicine, Physical Therapy, Specialty Clinics, Radiology & Laboratory, and Acupuncture, all conveniently located under one roof. Additionally, the center offers services in the Ackerman Student Union, including a full-service optometry center and a pharmacy. The center has consistently ranked among the best in the nation, recently being recognized as the healthiest college in California by the wellness fintech brand Ness. In this role, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating health education programs, engaging with students to promote wellness, and addressing topical issues that affect college students, such as substance abuse and sexual assault. The position requires strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse student body and the ability to present information clearly and effectively in group settings. The Program Coordinator will also be tasked with writing business correspondence and procedural guidelines, ensuring that all programming is inclusive and accessible to all students.

Responsibilities

  • Support the mission of HEART and the Ashe Center by providing health promotion and training for students.
  • Collaborate with team members to design and implement health programs.
  • Build infrastructural processes that contribute to HEART's overall success.

  • Make effective oral group presentations to diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • 1 year experience in health education.
  • 1 year experience in program coordination.
  • Demonstrated skill in inter-group dynamics, intercultural relations, and organizational dynamics.
  • Skill in prioritizing assignments and completing work in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to make effective oral group presentations.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively and sensitively with a large and diverse group of students.
  • Ability to write effective business correspondence and procedural guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of topical issues and problems facing college students.
