About the position
The Heat Treat Operator position at McWilliams Forge Company involves assisting in the heat treating process of metal objects, primarily for the aerospace industry. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, and physical capability to handle materials in a temperature-variable environment. The operator will work closely with the shift lead to ensure quality and efficiency in production.
Responsibilities
- Loading, unloading, and verifying quantity of parts per work order documentation and job instructions.
- Quenching heated parts in liquid baths such as oil or water.
- Performing maintenance (TPM) to the equipment.
- Following verbal and written instructions given by supervision.
- Reporting any heat treat discrepancies to the heat treat lead person.
- Exercising judgment in following instructions and standardized procedures.
- Assisting in multiple departments as needed.
Requirements
- Proficient in English to speak, read, and write instructions.
- Ability to assist other departments as needed.
- Availability to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency or equivalent years of manufacturing experience.
- Comfortable working in an environment with temperature swings.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
