About the position

O&G Industries, Inc., an innovative and diversified construction company based out of Torrington, CT, is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Heavy Civil division. This position plays a critical role in the successful and timely delivery of complex heavy civil, highway, and bridge projects from the pre-construction stage through project execution and completion. The Project Engineer will actively participate in overall day-to-day operational leadership and decision-making as a subject matter expert for project civil management functions. This includes participating in scheduling, reporting, quantity tracking, and managing daily operations for the execution of the project work scope. The role also involves taking part in project team input for project safety, construction planning, interpretation of design, development of efficient construction methods, and quality control processes for the execution of work. Additionally, the Project Engineer will monitor and oversee subcontractor scope work, ensuring adherence to schedule, quality testing, inspection, production, and contract plans and specifications. Overall leadership is essential to ensure that work is constructed in compliance and that work quality is accurately documented.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in overall day-to-day operational leadership and decision making as a subject matter expert for project civil management functions.
  • Participate in scheduling, reporting, quantity tracking and managing work daily operations for execution of the project work scope.
  • Take part in project team input for project safety, construction planning, interpretation of design, development of efficient construction methods and quality control processes for execution of work.
  • Monitor and oversee subcontractor scope work including schedule, quality testing, inspection, production and adherence to contract plans and specifications.
  • Provide overall leadership to ensure work is constructed in compliance and work quality is accurately documented.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management.
  • 2-5 years of experience in field inspection, construction experience relevant to the type of work and the scope of the project, and/or previous experience as a Project Engineer.
