About the position
The Heavy Equipment Instructor position at Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service is a temporary, part-time role focused on training individuals in the operation of various heavy equipment. The instructor will utilize adult learning theories to enhance the effectiveness of course instruction, which includes both classroom and field-based training. The role requires a strong background in heavy equipment operations and the ability to communicate effectively with learners.
Responsibilities
- Conduct classroom instruction for heavy equipment operations.
- Perform field-based skills training for students.
- Assist in creating and updating curriculum content as needed.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of class documentation.
- Support the Training Manager with customer interactions and marketing of programs.
- Complete travel requests and post-travel documentation accurately.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Four years of heavy equipment operations experience on two or more types of equipment.
- One year of adult education and/or training experience.
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days.
Nice-to-haves
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish.
- Valid Texas Commercial Driver License.
- Ten years of heavy equipment experience on three or more types of equipment.
- Knowledge of and/or certifications in Highway Safety and Traffic control.
