About the position
Reeves Construction Company, a subsidiary of Colas USA, is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Augusta, GA. This position is crucial for our operations as it involves the safe and efficient operation of various heavy machinery essential for infrastructure development. The successful candidate will demonstrate an uncompromising focus on safety excellence and will be responsible for operating equipment such as dozers, excavators, front end loaders, and motor graders. The role requires a solid understanding of the mechanics and hydraulics of heavy machinery, as well as the ability to conduct thorough inspections and maintain equipment in optimal working condition. In this role, you will be tasked with preparing land for construction by gouging out, leveling, and distributing earth, as well as pushing trees and rocks. You will need to interpret slope and grade stakes information accurately and ensure that all operations comply with company policies and safety standards. The position demands physical stamina, as you will be required to operate machinery for extended periods, climb onto and off machines frequently, and perform manual duties that may involve lifting and moving heavy objects. Responsibilities
- Operate various pieces of heavy equipment, including dozers, excavators, front end loaders, and motor graders.
- Conduct inspections on equipment, checking tracks, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water levels.
- Maintain equipment by keeping it serviced, lubricated, and in good working order.
- Understand and apply slope and grade stakes information for construction tasks.
- Safely operate heavy machinery in job site situations, adhering to company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- 1 year of related experience and/or training in heavy equipment operation or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of the mechanics and hydraulics of heavy machinery.
- Ability to conduct equipment inspections and perform routine maintenance.
