About the position

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating various light and heavy equipment in a hazardous waste treatment processing facility or landfill. This role involves handling waste materials, performing preventative maintenance on equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols while contributing to the overall efficiency of waste management operations.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate various light and heavy equipment in a hazardous waste treatment processing facility or landfill.
• Assist in off-loading trucks and unloading waste.
• Operate equipment to stabilize and handle waste materials.
• Process treatment of materials and containers.
• Sample post-treated materials for laboratory testing.
• Load cleared post-treatment materials for shipment to landfill or disposal.
• Perform general preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Maintain general housekeeping in the work area.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current 40-hour HAZWOPER Training or ability to pass the course upon hire.
• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the job.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance, including checking tire pressure and oil and water levels.
• Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple diverse responsibilities.
• A valid driver's license may be required for some positions.
