About the position

As a Heavy Equipment Operator III at Waste Management, you will be responsible for operating a wide variety of heavy equipment vehicles that are essential for the spreading and compaction of construction demolition, soil remediation, and both commercial and residential waste at post-collection facilities or specific job sites. This role is critical in ensuring that waste management processes are carried out efficiently and safely. You will be part of a dedicated team that moves from job site to job site as needed, contributing to the overall success of the operations. In this position, you will be expected to operate heavy equipment in compliance with company safety policies and procedures. Routine inspections and preventative maintenance on the equipment will be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that all machinery is in optimal working condition. You will also be tasked with moving and positioning raw materials and finished components using material moving equipment, adhering to standard operating procedures for both operating and maintaining the vehicles. The work environment can be demanding, requiring physical effort and exposure to various occupational risks. You will be expected to work in conditions that may involve dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes. The role does not include supervisory responsibilities, allowing you to focus on the operational aspects of heavy equipment management. This position is available for all shifts, including day, swing, and night shifts, providing flexibility in scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance; maintain accurate records.
  • Move and position raw materials and finished components using material moving equipment.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for operating and maintaining vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including moving from job site to job site as needed.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of previous experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to operate numerous soil excavation/remediation equipment.
  • Ability to work within a cohesive team/unit.
