About the position

The Heavy Equipment Operator position at Stoney Brook Landscaping and Masonry involves the safe and proficient operation of heavy machinery for residential excavation projects. The role requires strong skills in finish grading, reading plans, and managing large boulders, ensuring projects are completed on time and according to specifications.

Responsibilities

• Safe and proficient operation of heavy equipment, such as excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, and loaders.
• Experience reading plans and specifications, and setting up grade for excavation and grading work.
• Communicate equipment maintenance and repairs with the shop mechanic, ensuring that all equipment is in proper working order.
• Ensuring that projects are completed on schedule.
• Coordinating with project managers and subcontractors to ensure that projects are completed according to specifications.
• Maintaining accurate records of equipment usage.
• Ensuring that all safety protocols and regulations are being followed on the job site.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or equivalent, such as a GED.
• Prior work experience in heavy equipment operation and/or construction.
• Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively work with crews.
• Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
• Basic math skills and the ability to perform calculations related to excavation work.
• Proven ability to respond under pressure with professionalism.
