About the position

J C Pillion Contracting Co Inc. is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to join our team in Landing, NJ. The ideal candidate will have expertise in operating various heavy equipment machinery on residential housing construction sites. As an Equipment Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of equipment to support construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of house line work, including excavation, back-filling, and installation of sewer and water lines. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment, including off-road articulated trucks, Caterpillar and Komatsu machinery, and excavators. Your role will involve performing house line excavation tasks and collaborating with the construction team to coordinate equipment usage based on project requirements. In this position, you will follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others on the construction site. Routine maintenance checks on equipment will be part of your responsibilities, ensuring proper functioning and identifying any issues that need repair. You will also be expected to adhere to project timelines and deadlines by efficiently operating equipment as needed. The work environment is primarily outdoors, and you will be working in various locations across Northern New Jersey, specifically in Morris, Sussex, and Warren counties. This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule, requiring flexibility for overtime and weekend work as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment including off-road articulated trucks, Caterpillar & Komatsu machinery, excavators, and other construction site equipment.
  • Perform house line excavation tasks, including excavation, back-fill, and installation of sewer and water lines.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment, including checking fluid levels and greasing equipment daily.
  • Collaborate with the construction team to coordinate equipment usage based on project requirements.
  • Adhere to project timelines and deadlines by efficiently operating equipment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in operating heavy equipment machinery with a strong understanding of house line work.
  • Familiarity with various types of heavy equipment such as articulated trucks, bulldozers, and excavators.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with team members and follow instructions accurately.
  • Prior experience working on construction sites is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in residential construction for at least 4 years.
