About the position

The Heavy Equipment Operator at Harper Brothers Construction, LLC is responsible for operating various heavy machinery to support construction projects, particularly in residential excavation. The role requires a strong background in heavy equipment operation and the ability to work safely and efficiently on construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy construction equipment including excavators, skid steers, and loaders to execute construction tasks.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to the supervisor; ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
• Understand and follow company safety rules and regulations when performing work to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Assist in the installation of utility systems such as sewage, water pipes, and other infrastructure components.
• Coordinate with other crew members to ensure efficient and safe execution of site tasks.
• Interpret and follow plans and specifications for site work.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and peers on the status of projects and tasks.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a heavy equipment operator in construction or relevant field.
• Strong understanding of construction and excavation principles and safety standards.
• Experience in operating specific types of heavy equipment is highly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in heavy equipment operation is a plus.
