About the position

Ivy H. Smith, LLC is seeking Heavy Equipment Operators based out of Leesburg or Sumterville, FL to join our team and help connect America. This position involves operating various types of diesel or gasoline powered equipment for the installation and repair of underground and aerial utilities. The role requires performing general construction work, including physical labor, and ensuring safe working conditions according to all regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

• Drives and/or operates diesel or gasoline powered equipment to/from/on jobsite (Backhoe, Trencher, Directional Bore, Digger Derrick, Pole/Bucket Truck) associated with installation and repair of underground/aerial utilities
• Perform clearing, grading, excavations and all other equipment functions of construction sites
• Property or worksite restoration as needed associated with installation and repair of underground/aerial utilities
• Performs general construction work (to include physical labor i.e. using hand tools, lifting materials on average up to 50 lbs, etc.) under direction of Foreman or Supervisor
• Demonstrate ability to follow directions, produce quality work, maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all Federal, State, and Company regulations and policies

Requirements

• At least 18 years old
• Authorized to work in the United States for this company
• Prior experience within the Telecommunications, Power, or Utility Construction/Maintenance industry
• Currently have a valid CDL class A, preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience within the Utility Construction/Maintenance industry
• Able to operate various types of utility trucks, equipment, and hand tools in a safe manner
• Capable of reading prints and interpreting utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
• Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance
• Able to work as needed (over-time, after hours, on weekends, for emergencies or on-call) and in all weather conditions
