About the position

The Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic position at Terex Utilities in Tigard, OR, involves maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy machinery and utility equipment. The role emphasizes safety, technical skill development, and teamwork, contributing to the company's service support expansion across the U.S. The mechanic will work on equipment such as truck-mounted aerial platforms and cranes, ensuring operational efficiency and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Terex safety policies and procedures
  • Follow and promote The Terex Way Values
  • Work on a wide array of equipment including truck mounted aerial platforms, digger derricks, and cranes
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical systems
  • Inspect equipment used by customers
  • Convey information to Terex team members as appropriate
  • Preside at trade shows, coordinating business development and educational activities with customers and contacts
  • Incorporate lean manufacturing principles in dealings with customers and team members
  • Meet or exceed the training requirements for self-development during the year
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic set of mechanical tools (sockets, wrenches, and battery-operated impact gun)
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience troubleshooting and working on heavy machinery and/or utility equipment
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with welding and fabrication
  • Willingness to submit for pre-employment background check and drug screening

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years in a similar field
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Experience with utility-type equipment
  • Fluid Power Society certification (experience or knowledge)
  • Extensive knowledge of Terex Products: e.g Hi-Ranger, Telelect, Genie products or similar brands
  • Ability to work in a team-based safety-focused workplace
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer skills
