About the position

Parsons is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator (Lead) to join our team, where you will play a crucial role in supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through the Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5). This position involves 100 percent travel across various sites nationwide, where you will perform demolition work as part of a self-perform crew. You will be the main point of contact for all site work, coordinating with internal management and clients before the job starts and ensuring that all operations run smoothly on-site. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and operating heavy machinery, such as excavators, backhoes, and skid steers, to complete demolition and restoration tasks. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety procedures and industry standards, collaborating with construction management to eliminate hazards, and maintaining a safe work environment for all personnel involved. In this role, you will be expected to manage the entire lifecycle of projects of limited scope, focusing specifically on demolition activities. You will communicate effectively with personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate work, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and safely. The position requires excellent communication skills, a strong safety and quality background, and the ability to interface with clients while being hands-on technically in the project. You will also be responsible for preparing and managing electronic expense reports and time cards, as well as attending weekly meetings to review project status and discuss any issues or concerns that may arise. Responsibilities

  • Perform local coordination of on-site work, working in a 2-man self-perform crew.
  • Act as the main point of contact (POC) for all site work, coordinating with internal management and the client before the job starts.
  • Coordinate final inspection and completion of close-out paperwork.
  • Perform cradle-to-grave operations for projects of relatively limited scope, specifically focused on demolition activities.
  • Operate large excavators, backhoes, and skid steers proficiently.
  • Communicate with personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work.
  • Maintain, operate, and coordinate the use of heavy machinery as required to complete demolition/restoration work at various sites.
  • Collaborate with construction management to eliminate hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees.
  • Ensure personnel engage in safe work practices in compliance with site-specific safety procedures and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated skills to maintain, operate, and coordinate the use of heavy machinery (Excavator/Backhoe/Skid Steer).
  • 5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to prepare and manage electronic expense reports.
  • Excellent communication skills and familiarity with PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction.
  • Ability to obtain an active credit card.
  • Strong Safety/Quality background.
  • Ability to interface with clients and enjoy being hands-on technically in the project.
  • Must be able to travel 100%.
  • Must be able to meet customer security requirements, including a background check by Federal Authorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred.
  • OSHA certification preferred.
  • Ability to prepare daily notes of job activities.
  • Complete expense reports on a timely basis via Parsons' electronic expense reporting system.
  • Complete time card on a daily basis via Parsons' electronic time card system.
  • Collaborate with office staff to address project requirements.
  • Act as the Company representative with the client and selected subcontractors while on project site.
  • Follow the requirements outlined in the Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents as required.
  • Monitor and report to service area lead regarding the progress of construction/demolition activities, including significant milestones, and any conditions affecting project cost or schedule.
