About the position

The Heavy Equipment Supervisor position is a critical role that involves 100 percent travel across various sites in the United States. This position is part of the Technical Support Services Contract awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to Parsons, which encompasses a wide range of activities supporting the FAA's Capital Investment Plan (CIP) modernization efforts. The contract, valued at over $1.8 billion, includes site selection, engineering, construction, environmental safety, equipment installation, and testing, among other technical services. The work is performed nationwide, with an average staff of 400-500, peaking at over 650, including subcontractors involved in construction work. As a Heavy Equipment Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating on-site work, acting as the main point of contact for all site activities, and ensuring the completion of close-out paperwork. You will perform cradle-to-grave operations for projects focused on demolition activities, requiring proficiency in operating large excavators, backhoes, and skid steers. Your role will also involve maintaining safety standards, collaborating with construction management to eliminate hazards, and ensuring compliance with site-specific safety procedures and industry standards. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse team and contribute to significant projects that impact the infrastructure of the nation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform local coordination of on-site work, working in a 2-man self-perform crew.
  • Act as the main point of contact (POC) for all site work, coordinating with internal management and the client before the job starts.
  • Coordinate final inspection and completion of close-out paperwork.
  • Perform cradle-to-grave operations for projects of relatively limited scope, specifically focused on demolition activities.
  • Operate large excavators, backhoes, and skid steers proficiently.
  • Communicate with personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work.
  • Maintain, operate, and coordinate the use of heavy machinery as required to complete demolition/restoration work at various sites.
  • Collaborate with construction management to eliminate hazards associated with the work, ensuring safe work practices in compliance with safety procedures and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated skills to maintain, operate, and coordinate the use of heavy machinery (Excavator/Backhoe/Skid Steer).
  • 5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to prepare and manage electronic expense reports.
  • Excellent communication skills and familiarity with PC software packages associated with engineering and construction.
  • Ability to obtain an active credit card for travel expenses.
  • Strong Safety/Quality background.
  • Ability to interface with clients and enjoy being hands-on technically in the project.
  • Strong communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred.
  • OSHA certification preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and prepare daily notes of job activities.
  • Experience completing expense reports and time cards via electronic systems.
  • Experience collaborating with office staff to address project requirements.
