About the position

The Heavy Equipment Test Technician at Elliott Equipment Company plays a crucial role in testing and inspecting components, sub-assemblies, and completed products. This position requires a hands-on approach to troubleshoot and determine root causes of issues while ensuring quality standards are met. The technician will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and after-sales support to maintain high-quality standards and promote continuous improvement in safety and environmental practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing and inspections on components, sub-assemblies, and completed products.
  • Troubleshoot, determine root cause, and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and confer with management and engineering staff to establish quality standards.
  • Operate and test aerial work platforms, boom trucks, and Digger Derricks safely and efficiently.
  • Examine and diagnose hydraulic and 12-volt electrical systems and equipment.
  • Compare products with bills of materials and parts lists to ensure assembly completion.
  • Verify specifications of products and materials.
  • Process inspection records, certifications, and quality documentation.
  • Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Provide feedback to internal resources for product improvements and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of hydraulic and 12-volt electrical knowledge.
  • 2 years of quality assurance experience preferred.
  • Experience with heavy equipment, particularly construction or agricultural equipment, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of quality processes and systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to communicate professionally with co-workers, supervisors, and vendors.
  • Ability to interpret and read graphic instructions such as blueprints and schematics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of general welding standards and paint application preferred.
  • Elliott Equipment product knowledge is a plus.
