About the position

The Industrial Forklift Operator is responsible for operating forklifts to load and unload steel hauling trucks for both customers and the company. This role requires excellent judgment in estimating and executing appropriate size lifts while ensuring safety and efficiency in operations. The operator will also manage paperwork related to incoming materials and outgoing products, ensuring compliance with established product control systems and shipping orders. Additionally, the operator must maintain the accuracy of the computer inventory system and the physical organization of inventory, while adhering to safety regulations and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellent judgment in estimating and executing appropriate size lifts
• Unload and load steel hauling trucks for customers and company
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently, protecting self and others from accident and injury
• Document, count, and verify customer piece counts for shipping and receiving
• Manage paperwork to properly identify incoming materials and outgoing products in accordance with established product control systems and shipping orders
• Ensure the accuracy of the computers inventory system and the physical location and organization of inventory
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment and follow facility safety regulations

Requirements

• One year of previous experience operating a 25,000lbs+ forklift in an industrial environment
• The ability to perform basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
• The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
• Excellent hand and eye coordination
• Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
• The ability to be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, proximity to extreme heat, and moving mechanical parts
