About the position

The Heavy Haul Permits Coordinator is responsible for managing the permitted movement of oversized loads for Anderson Trucking Service, Inc. This role involves route identification, acquiring necessary state and local permits, and coordinating additional services to ensure safe and efficient transport. The coordinator aims to minimize delays while maximizing productivity and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Compute load size and identify feasible routes of travel.
  • Analyze timeliness, cost-effectiveness, and potential concerns for oversized moves.
  • Submit permit applications and verify information matches approved permits.
  • Order permits from state and local agencies via online, email, fax, or phone.
  • Route loads and coordinate information with fleet supervisors, providing special instructions to drivers.
  • Contact state and local agencies for approvals and concerns regarding permits.
  • Coordinate time setup and contracts for state patrol and utility trucks as needed.
  • Provide high-quality service to drivers and customers while meeting company expectations.
  • Serve as a liaison between fleet supervisors, drivers, permit services, and state agencies.
  • Follow department processes to minimize risk and revenue loss.
  • Continuously seek to improve department quality and efficiency standards.
  • Adapt to an ever-changing work environment and deal with unexpected events.

Requirements

  • High School education and/or Associate's degree in business or administrative field preferred.
  • Excellent map reading ability and knowledge of United States geography.
  • Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and pay attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to manage difficult situations.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, listening).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical equations.
  • Ability to work as a team member and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts as needed.
