About the position

The Heavy Industrial Electrical Technician will play a crucial role in the construction and maintenance of a state-of-the-art steel mill in Apple Grove, WV. This position focuses on ensuring the reliability and performance of electrical systems and equipment, contributing to the overall success of the steel production process. The technician will be responsible for both preventative and corrective maintenance, as well as troubleshooting electrical issues, all while adhering to safety protocols in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on steel mill equipment and systems.
• Assist in the construction of the steel mill and the development of a computerized maintenance management system.
• Propose and implement innovative solutions to challenges in the steel-making process.
• Conduct electrical and electronic troubleshooting and periodic maintenance on equipment.
• Understand and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
• Demonstrate knowledge of high and low-voltage electrical systems, programmable logic controllers, instrumentation, AC/DC variable frequency drives, motors, and control systems.

Requirements

• Strong foundation in electric theory.
• Prior experience in a steel mill environment is a major advantage.
• Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting and maintenance on industrial equipment.
• Knowledge of high and low-voltage electrical systems and control systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Familiarity with AC/DC variable frequency drives.
