About the position

The Heavy Line Diesel Technician is responsible for performing comprehensive repair and maintenance services on vehicles, with a specialization in heavy line diesel systems. This role is crucial for ensuring customer satisfaction through high-quality service, safety, and comfort of vehicles, which fosters repeat business.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct general repair and replacement services including brake pads, tires, wheel alignment, and steering components.
  • Perform maintenance services such as oil changes, fluid exchanges, and preventative maintenance.
  • Conduct evaluation services including charging system analysis and brake inspections.
  • Perform diagnostic services for emissions control, drivability concerns, and electrical systems.
  • Execute advanced repair services including timing belts, head gaskets, and brake hydraulics.
  • Use factory specifications as the standard for all repair and service work.
  • Aim for 100% productivity and complete repair work within the allotted time.
  • Submit parts requests promptly for required jobs.
  • Keep service writers or managers informed of any additional work or delays.
  • Assist service advisors in writing work orders and interacting with customers.
  • Complete necessary paperwork after job completion.
  • Maintain current technical qualifications through training programs.
  • Ensure vehicles are cleaner upon completion than when received.
  • Provide thorough and complete service to minimize return repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist in shop maintenance.
  • Perform all duties safely and report any unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Adhere to all company policies and perform other tasks as directed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a diesel technician or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy line repair techniques.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic tests and repair complex systems.
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment used in diesel repair.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers and team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • ASE certification in diesel technology or related fields.
  • Experience with specific vehicle brands or models.
  • Knowledge of emissions regulations and compliance.
