About the position

This is a Military Technician position with the 63rd Readiness Division, Area Maintenance Support Activity 85, located in Camp Parks, CA. The position is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, modify and maintain a variety of heavy mobile equipment, such as construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and powered support equipment.
• Remove and repair major systems or components of equipment to include power packs, transmissions, transfers, gear reduction units, injector pumps, air conditioners, fuel pumps and alternators.
• Make idle speed, current, brake, and transmission linkage adjustments.
• Perform initial and in-process inspections; perform mechanical diagnostics and troubleshoot to localize defects and determine cause of malfunction; perform mechanical maintenance on defective parts; and perform minor body work.
• Provide technical assistance to unit personnel.
• Operate motor vehicles to perform the duties of this position.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
• This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.
• This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
• This position requires a Class A CDL within 180 days of employment.
• This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
