About the position
The HEDIS Medical Record Analyst is a temporary role focused on retrieving, abstracting, and reviewing medical records to capture essential data elements for HEDIS reporting. This position is designed for individuals with experience in medical records and HEDIS, contributing to the improvement of healthcare quality and reporting processes.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve and abstract medical records from EMR/EHR systems for HEDIS reporting.
- Document retrieval progress and findings for each EMR accessed.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with provider offices regarding medical records.
- Review assigned medical records to abstract specified clinical data elements for HEDIS reporting.
- Document abstraction findings using appropriate tools as directed by the HEDIS MR Team.
- Communicate additional pursuit strategies to team members as needed.
Requirements
- HEDIS Medical Record experience highly preferred.
- Associate degree in Nursing or related field and 3 years of experience in a clinical setting.
- Experience working with medical records and/or EMR/EHR systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated command of medical terminology and clinical processes.
- Problem-solving ability and knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations.
- Knowledge of ICD-9 and 10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG coding conventions is a plus.
- Knowledge of FACETS is a plus.
- Experience with quality oversight and teaching is desired.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience in HEDIS and medical record retrieval and/or abstraction for quality or research projects.
- Valid Registered Nursing (RN/LVN/LPN) certification preferred.
- CPC - Certified Professional Coder certification preferred.
- CCS - Certified Coding Specialist certification preferred.
