Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a large heifer operation located in Colorado who is searching for a Heifer Facility Manager for their operation. The Heifer Facility Manager will be responsible for overseeing the health, breeding, and feed management of the herd. This role is crucial in ensuring the well-being of the animals, which includes early detection of illness for both individual animals and the herd as a whole. The manager will be tasked with managing pregnancy palpations, organizing the movement of animals to maintain herd organization, and overseeing grazing practices. Additionally, the position requires effective people management skills to lead the team in maintaining high standards of animal care and operational efficiency. The Heifer Facility Manager will maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and animal care standards as specified in the Employee Handbook. This includes teaching and managing employees to work properly with animals and holding them accountable to the no-tolerance policy regarding mistreatment or neglect. The manager will also be responsible for monitoring the involuntary cull and death rates, ensuring they remain below desired goals. Furthermore, the role involves monitoring and teaching employees to follow protocols, perform specific tasks, and complete physical exams, as well as diagnosing illnesses early and administering treatments appropriately. In addition to these responsibilities, the Heifer Facility Manager will oversee the breeding program and bull management, organize the grazing program during the grazing season, and manage employee scheduling to ensure a complete team is present at all times. The manager will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of animal housing facilities, restrooms, and break rooms, as well as repairing or sourcing repairs for equipment and facilities. Safety is a priority, and the manager must ensure that all employees follow proper safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment (PPE). Communication with employees, coworkers, and supervisors is essential, and the manager will be expected to complete written reports as required and perform other duties as assigned.
