About the position

The Help Desk Apprenticeship is a one-year program designed to provide technical assistance to computer users, addressing their questions and resolving computer-related issues. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience in both hardware and software support, collaborating with others to enhance their skills and knowledge in the information technology field.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to computer users in person, via telephone, or electronically.
• Monitor computer system performance to ensure proper operation.
• Collaborate with others to resolve information technology issues.
• Install computer hardware and software.
• Read documents to gather technical information.
• Resolve computer software problems and provide technical support for software maintenance.
• Maintain computer hardware and document operational activities.
• Evaluate the utility of software or hardware technologies and recommend changes to improve systems.
• Teach and train others in the use of computer equipment or software.
• Conduct research to gain information about products or processes.
• Update knowledge about emerging industry or technology trends.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Complete two CTE Courses related to the field.
• Maintain a 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) in apprenticeship-related coursework.
• Maintain at least a 90 percent attendance record overall for grades 9-12.
• Maintain at least a 95 percent on-time record.
• Passing all current courses and on track to graduate.
• Be authorized to work in the United States.
• Receive two instructor recommendations.
