About the position

The Help Desk/Server Support role at Soft Tech Consulting involves providing technical support and administration for a government client in the Springfield/Franconia, VA area. The position requires a U.S. citizen with an active Secret security clearance and is 100% onsite. The individual will be responsible for daily operations, troubleshooting, and maintaining network systems, ensuring effective communication and prompt resolution of technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Administer daily updates to the database tracking tool.
  • Collect operations support weekly action reports.
  • Compile database metrics weekly.
  • Assign new work orders to operations support technicians/engineers within one hour of STAC notification during business hours and follow up on urgent actions.
  • Check Splunk for network and systems status and address any issues.
  • Perform Tier I troubleshooting, including server resets, user accounts, and TAVEE reports.
  • Provide statistical reporting data on post communications links under the direction of the lead network engineer.
  • Maintain a log and track metrics on network outages.
  • Configure and prepare Cisco and Nortel devices for shipment.
  • Update the post database and maintain an up-to-date IP list on NAS.
  • Manage the NOC daily, addressing technical faults and maintaining organization.
  • Ensure all tickets are acted on and closed promptly.
  • Image and configure workstations under the direction of the system administrator.
  • Maintain the operations support duty roster.

Requirements

  • A degree in computer science or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least two entry/mid-level IT certifications such as A+, CCNA, Network+, etc.
  • Minimum of two years hands-on experience in a PC/network helpdesk or technical support environment.
  • Knowledge of technical security systems such as CCTV, alarms, and access control is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
