About the position

The Help Desk Specialist at Children's Home Association of Illinois (CHAIL) is responsible for providing software and hardware assistance to agency personnel. This role includes training employees on various communication devices and software, managing the communications network, and maintaining the agency's web and intranet sites. The position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and supporting end-user needs, ensuring efficient operation of technology within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Answer helpdesk tickets, emails, and phone calls related to end-user questions or problems.
• Maintain the agency's website and intranet site.
• Manage equipment inventory and upgrade computers as needed.
• Research and write curriculum for training sessions.
• Replace malfunctioning equipment such as keyboards, mice, cell phones, and monitors.
• Organize and present new employee orientation once a month.
• Train employees in various software applications including switchboard software, Word, Excel, and GroupWise.

Requirements

• Minimum high school education.
• Experience in software support, software training, hardware repair, and web design.
• Knowledge of computer operations, security programs, and data recovery techniques.
• Familiarity with Novell, Avaya Site Administration, Microsoft Office products, and configuring Microsoft operating systems.

Nice-to-haves

• College coursework in a relevant field.
• Experience with ECAS call accounting, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and GroupWise Email.
