About the position

The Help Desk Support Specialist role at Silgan involves providing technical support to users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring efficient operation of computing systems. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and customer service skills, with opportunities for advancement within a stable and environmentally conscious company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Level I and II support remotely via phone, using remote tools or onsite.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware failures.
  • Setup HP desktops, laptops, thin clients, and Microsoft Surface Pro units.
  • Install hardware and peripheral components like docking stations, printers, keyboards, and monitors.
  • Load software packages such as networking components, operating systems, and office applications.
  • Prioritize and work on service desk tickets in the internal ticketing system.
  • Accountable for being part of an ongoing after-hours on-call rotation.
  • Develop and conduct various training and instruction for end users on OS and other applications.
  • Assist users in maximizing the use of computing systems.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or 4 plus years of hands-on technical experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 2 plus years of hands-on technical experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting Microsoft Office, Active Directory Administration, and Virtualization Technologies.
  • Solid knowledge of Networking, Ethernet Cabling, TCP/IP, and DNS.
  • Experience troubleshooting Adobe, Standard and Professional software.

Nice-to-haves
