About The Position
The Helper at ClearWater Area Waste Pro is a vital role responsible for assisting the refuse truck driver on pre-assigned and special routes to collect garbage, yard waste, or recycling. This position requires a commitment to providing a safe and efficient service to the community while adhering to company policies and safety regulations. The Helper will engage in various physical tasks, including lifting and carrying trash bags, bulk items, and containers to the truck for disposal. The role involves climbing onto and off the rear truck step to load refuse, operating the packing mechanism to compact waste into the truck, and ensuring that all garbage and recyclables are picked up and transferred properly, which may include using back doors for access. In addition to the physical demands, the Helper is expected to provide a high level of customer service, answering questions from residents and directing them to the appropriate channels for further assistance. Safety is paramount in this role, and the Helper must comply with all ANSI and OSHA safety standards, as well as the company's Absolute Guidelines. The position may also require the Helper to assist the driver in safely backing up the truck and to perform clean-up duties around the truck and in the community. The work environment can vary significantly, with exposure to different weather conditions, noise, and other environmental factors. The Helper must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the job, which includes pushing, pulling, lifting, and bending repeatedly throughout the day. This role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the community and requires a team-oriented individual who is willing to work in various conditions and assist in emergency situations as needed.
