About the position

The HEOR Researcher role is centered on conducting research and development activities aimed at innovating and improving products and processes within the healthcare sector. This position is integral to various research programs and projects, focusing on the development of new products and innovations. The role encompasses clinical responsibilities that are pivotal to research projects, where the individual will engage in basic, translational, and clinical research to address specific problems faced by entities or communities. As a professional individual contributor, the HEOR Researcher may oversee the work of lower-level professionals or manage specific processes and programs, spending a significant amount of time on the design, implementation, and delivery of processes, programs, and policies utilizing specialized knowledge typically acquired through advanced education. In this position, the researcher will assist in supporting research activities under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, Project Director, or other designated supervisors. The role requires functioning as part of the core staff of the program, performing routine programmatic functions or research procedures, and documenting these activities meticulously. The HEOR Researcher will work independently and collaboratively with co-workers to design and execute research program activities that align with the objectives set forth by the Principal Investigator. This position demands a high level of expertise and experience, as the researcher will be expected to manage large projects or processes with limited oversight, coach and review the work of lower-level professionals, and resolve complex problems that may arise during research activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and optimizes project methods and protocols to achieve research objectives; creates new protocols for co-workers and future researchers.
  • Interprets experimental data and unusual findings.
  • Presents summaries of research data during group meetings.
  • Performs research activities to achieve goals set by the Principal Investigator and/or supervisor.
  • Conducts all work with careful attention to detail, using reproducible techniques.
  • Maintains a complete, well-organized, and clearly documented research record and spreadsheet databases containing study data and other research information.
  • Assists collaborating investigators in developing research proposals and manuscripts for various research projects.
  • Works with multidisciplinary teams to manage day-to-day operations of research studies, including grant maintenance, budget review, and data collection.
  • Helps supervise Research Assistants and Admin Assistants.
  • Organizes complex data collection efforts.
  • Assists in preparing documentation of data files for all study team members and collaborates with computer programmers to maintain data file systems for each project.
  • Manages the overall conduct of multiple research projects, generating timelines, delegating tasks, and formulating meeting agendas.
  • Performs literature searches for manuscripts and grant applications.
  • Participates as an author in writing manuscripts for journal publication.
  • Supervises student interns and junior staff when necessary.
  • Assists with Grant Development.
  • Oversees the updating of the study database with information from off-campus sites.
  • Participates in the review of collected data.
  • Consults with Principal Investigator and other researchers to determine future program direction.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree OR Master's Degree OR Bachelor's Degree AND Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a research environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Seven (7) years of research experience concerning multi-institutional observational studies and clinical trials.
