About the position

Covestro is seeking an intern for the summer of 2025 to join our Health and Environmental Safety (HES) team at our Industrial Park in New Martinsville, WV. This internship will last approximately 12 weeks and will focus on various aspects of safety management and engineering within the HES arena. The selected intern will have the opportunity to engage in a dynamic work environment that emphasizes safety and health, contributing to our occupational safety management system. Responsibilities will include supporting initiatives related to fall protection, control of energy (lockout/tagout), contractor safety, emergency eyewash and showers, industrial hygiene, and incident emergency response. Additionally, the intern will assist in evaluating and implementing HES tools, gaining hands-on experience in the field of health and environmental safety. Responsibilities

  • Support the occupational safety management system in various areas including fall protection and control of energy (lockout/tagout).
  • Assist with contractor safety protocols and emergency eyewash and shower systems.
  • Contribute to industrial hygiene practices and incident emergency response efforts.
  • Evaluate and implement Health and Environmental Safety (HES) tools.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor degree program with a focus in safety management or engineering.
  • Completion of Sophomore year in the degree program.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior internship or work experience in a related field.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA General Industry standards.
