About the position

The HSC AI and Serverless Frameworks Research Associate Intern at Hewlett Packard Labs is designed for highly qualified, self-motivated individuals to accelerate research in computing systems architecture, particularly focusing on sustainability technologies. This role involves collaboration with diverse research teams to develop innovative solutions and contribute to the advancement of HPE's products and technologies. Interns are expected to provide thought leadership, engage in technical influence, and bring innovative ideas to practice, contributing to the full range of research activities from ideation to implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Accelerate research towards new applications and technologies in computing systems architecture.
  • Collaborate with research teams and external partners to develop innovative solutions.
  • Contribute to the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and technology transfer of research ideas.
  • Provide thought leadership and technical influence within HPE and externally.
  • Engage in innovative solution development, including proofs-of-concept and technology transfer.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a PhD degree or equivalent research experience in a relevant discipline (e.g., computer science, electrical engineering, etc.).
  • Demonstrated track record of innovative contributions and ideas.
  • Experience with developing proofs-of-concept and first-of-a-kind solutions.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, CUDA, and OpenCL.
  • Experience with cloud orchestration tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless platforms like Knative.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with cloud architecture design and management.
  • Knowledge of hybrid and multi-cloud strategies.
  • Understanding of sustainability regulations and best practices for data centers.
  • Experience with workload scheduling and resource allocation in distributed environments.
