About the position

The HSC Hardware Management Research Associate Intern at Hewlett Packard Labs is designed for highly qualified, self-motivated individuals to accelerate research in computing systems architecture, focusing on sustainability technologies. This role involves collaboration with diverse research teams to develop innovative solutions and contribute to the advancement of HPE's products and technologies. Interns will engage in thought leadership and technical influence, working on projects that span from initial ideas to implementation and technology transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Accelerate research towards new applications and technologies in computing systems architecture.
  • Collaborate with research teams and external partners to develop innovative solutions.
  • Contribute to the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and technology transfer of new ideas.
  • Provide thought leadership and technical influence both internally and externally to HPE.
  • Engage in innovative solution development, including proofs-of-concept and first-of-a-kind solutions.

Requirements

  • Pursuing or recently completed BS/MS/PhD degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. computer science, electrical engineering, etc.).
  • Track record of innovative contributions and ideas in relevant fields.
  • Experience with innovative solution development and technology transfer.
  • Technical skills in programming (C, C++, CUDA, OpenCL) and experience with accelerators (GPU, FPGA, ASICs).
  • Basic knowledge of computer architecture and server hardware.
  • Experience with Linux kernel and strong systems programming skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with cloud architecture and hybrid/multi-cloud strategies.
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient technologies and green data center practices.
  • Understanding of sustainability regulations and best practices for data center operations.
  • Experience with workload scheduling and resource allocation in distributed computing environments.
