About the position

The Industrial Engineering Intern & Co-Op position at Hormel Foods offers students the opportunity to gain real-world experience by performing the duties of full-time engineering counterparts. Interns will manage projects independently and provide technical and engineering advice to enhance facilities performance.

Responsibilities

• Work in various departments and throughout the plant to identify opportunities for improvements by performing ergonomic job surveys, analyzing operations, reviewing job loads, and making recommendations.
• Identify improvements to work methods by reviewing the methods and analyzing potential method/design changes.
• Analyze operations and create AutoCAD layouts.
• Evaluate downtimes and methods to increase efficiency.
• Evaluate, recommend, and install new equipment and layouts.

Requirements

• Must graduate in August 2025, December 2025, or May 2026 and major in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology or a related field with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership, persuasive, initiative, analytical, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position.
• Possess a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.
• Applicants must not now, or any time in the future, require sponsorship for an employment visa.
• This position will require access to and/or the utilization of a personal motor vehicle to get to and from the workplace.
