About the position

The High Current Applications Engineer role is based in Dallas, TX, focusing on the design, operation, testing, and maintenance of high current test equipment and associated substation equipment. The position emphasizes customer satisfaction, technical support, and collaboration across various departments to enhance product offerings and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer satisfaction goals are met daily.
  • Provide technical support for Megger High Current Test products through personal visits, demonstrations, and hands-on training.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Validate product specifications through application testing and provide feedback for product enhancement.
  • Prepare white papers, application notes, and technical articles to establish Megger as a subject matter expert.
  • Manage product specifications, software, and application literature, and oversee product design and development.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Technical Support, Manufacturing, Service and Repair, Quality, and Management to meet product line profitability goals.
  • Utilize knowledge of Materials Management in product feature development for Sales order entry and Engineering/Manufacturing Bill of Materials.
  • Present theoretical topics and case studies at conferences and technical meetings.
  • Champion the High Current Testing product line through regular interaction with various departments.
  • Conduct competitor reviews and analysis to maintain expertise in the market.
  • Coordinate beta site programs with early-stage products.
  • Evaluate bid requests with Sales Teams to recommend product offerings and pricing strategies.
  • Act as a leader within the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in high current test equipment, specifically with 480V breakers and recloser protection.
  • Knowledge of NERC standards related to relay protection.
  • Experience with NETA testing of low voltage breakers and primary injection testing.
  • Familiarity with utility substation design, maintenance, protection, and control methods.
  • Experience in installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time for customer meetings and technical conferences, including international travel.
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Windows platforms, software installation, and Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in protective relaying equipment and applications.
  • Knowledge of VB scripting or similar scripting experience.
  • Five years' experience in managing products for profitability.
  • Understanding of Megger DDA, OCR, and SPI equipment.
  • Sales experience.
