About the position

The High Net Worth (HNW) Research Analyst at Yale University plays a pivotal role within the Prospect Development team in the Office of Development. Reporting to the Associate Director, High Net Worth, this position is integral to supporting the university's fundraising efforts through comprehensive research on high-net-worth prospects. The HNW Research Analyst is responsible for conducting in-depth analyses to identify potential donors' philanthropic interests and their capacity for giving, which directly informs strategic decision-making processes related to donor cultivation and engagement. In this role, the HNW Research Analyst will engage in a variety of tasks, including the identification and evaluation of donor prospects through diverse sources of information. This involves analyzing financial, philanthropic, and biographical data to assess prospects' ability and willingness to contribute to the university's fundraising initiatives. The analyst will collaborate closely with frontline teams, including gift officers from Principal Gifts, Friends Philanthropy, International Development, and Parent Gifts, to share insights and support cultivation efforts effectively. The position requires the preparation of clear and concise research reports and profiles that communicate findings and recommendations to both frontline teams and organizational leadership. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date donor records in the university's database is crucial, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality at all times. Additionally, the HNW Research Analyst will monitor news channels to identify relevant prospect news and wealth events, transmitting actionable insights to gift officers as appropriate. This role is essential for developing innovative prospect identification and research strategies that align with the university's organizational goals and fundraising priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research on high-net-worth prospects to identify philanthropic interests and capacity for giving.
  • Analyze and interpret financial, philanthropic, and biographical information to assess prospects' ability and propensity to contribute.
  • Collaborate with frontline teams and maintain close working partnerships with gift officers to share insights and support cultivation efforts.
  • Prepare clear and concise research reports and profiles to communicate findings and recommendations to organizational leadership.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the database, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Monitor news channels to identify prospect news and wealth events in real time and transmit meaningful news items to gift officers.
  • Identify, investigate, analyze, organize, and evaluate information from various sources to determine donor prospects' financial capacity and relationship to the University.
  • Devise research strategies and methods to identify potential donors and new donor prospects.
  • Identify new sources of wealth and track existing sources to strengthen donor relationships with the University.
  • Participate in planning long- and short-term development strategies with the team to solicit funds and meet department fundraising targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and two years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to review, interpret, and synthesize a large volume of data into clear, concise analysis while working in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong computer skills and superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and deliver analysis with brevity and substance.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to initiate and apply creative solutions.
