About the position

The High Performance Computing Engineer role at Lockheed Martin is focused on supporting the design and development of HPC and utility systems within the FORCE Portfolio. This position involves full stack engineering, system administration, and managing queuing software to meet the computing needs of various research projects. The role is integral to the success of the HPC Delivery Team, which operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment utilizing Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of HPC and utility systems (computation, network, and storage)
  • Perform full stack engineering, including platform support and user software support
  • Manage queuing software to meet the computing needs of research projects
  • Responsible for System Administration on multiple system platforms and hardware
  • Conduct system installations, upgrades, configuration management, and troubleshooting
  • Provide on-call support as part of a rotation

Requirements

  • Experience with High Performance Computing infrastructure product development and/or maintenance
  • Demonstrated automation mindset, including the use of automation and orchestration tools and scripting languages such as Ansible, PowerShell, Terraform
  • Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 or 7 administration and configuration

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using agile management tools such as JIRA, VersionOne, Pivotal Tracker
  • Experience with simulation and AI/ML software
  • Experience with DevOps / DevSecOps
  • Knowledge of various protocols (i.e., DNS, SMTP, NFS, FTP, Telnet, SSH, SFTP)
  • Experience in mitigating IT Tech Debt and retiring legacy products and services
  • Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure IT service development and maintenance
  • Experience with containerization, Kubernetes, Docker
