About the position
The High Performance Computing Software Engineer will join a leading trading company in Chicago, focusing on the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of compute and storage systems. This role involves building tools for software and operating system management at scale, automating processes, and collaborating with researchers to optimize the use of HPC infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain, and support compute and storage systems.
- Build tools to compile, package, install, and upgrade software and operating systems at scale.
- Automate processes related to HPC infrastructure.
- Collaborate with researchers to optimize the use of HPC resources.
- Develop tools for maintaining a production computing environment.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in High Performance Computing (HPC).
- Experience with parallel filesystems such as GPFS and Lustre.
- Familiarity with batch systems like Grid Engine and Slurm.
- Development experience in programming languages such as C, Python, or Go.
- Experience in designing, building, and maintaining distributed systems.
- Proficiency in system configuration management tools like Ansible, SaltStack, or Puppet.
- Strong Linux system administration skills.
