About the position

Liberty Common High School is seeking a full-time Academic Support Team Coordinator for grades 9-12, starting in August 2025. This role is integral to supporting special education students and those at high risk, ensuring compliance with educational standards and providing consultative support to staff. The coordinator will oversee IEPs, deliver instruction, and facilitate communication among students, parents, and teachers, all while promoting the school's mission of excellence in education.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative oversight of all IEP, 504, and ELD service plans and meetings.
  • Plan and deliver instruction to identified students in the classroom or intervention room as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements in areas served by AST.
  • Administrative oversight of MTSS/RtI process for 7th-12th grade students.
  • Crisis intervention and social/emotional liaison.
  • Monitor progress and maintain documentation for academic, social and emotional progress and/or needs of students.
  • Oversight/support of enrollment process for students with academic concerns.
  • Act as liaison between parents, students, and school support staff.
  • Instruct Guided Study classes within the framework of the Liberty Common curriculum.
  • Assist with designing intervention and monitoring progress for students who are struggling.
  • Assist general education teachers with identifying struggling students and implementing interventions.
  • Produce timely evaluation reports, goals and objectives, and documentation for IEP services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information as required by federal law and school policy.
  • Create master schedule for AST with regard to standardized testing, classes, and finals.
  • Refer, review, and monitor progress/ maintain documentation for STAT process in coordination with STAT team.
  • Attend weekly faculty meetings.
  • Supervise special education department and paraprofessionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with teaching license program required - mild/moderate needs and/or affective needs.
  • Experience working with special needs students in the classroom setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team and to effectively manage others.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in secondary school resource programs preferred.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply the Exceptional Children's Educational Act.
  • Knowledge of curricular content and instructional practices.
  • Knowledge of behavior and classroom management techniques.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including PowerSchool's administrative applications.
