About the position

The High School Boys Varsity Soccer Coach at YES Prep Hobby Secondary is responsible for leading and developing the soccer program while ensuring that student-athletes prioritize their academic responsibilities. This temporary position involves organizing practices and games, monitoring student-athletes' academic progress, and fostering a supportive environment that emphasizes both athletic and academic excellence.

Responsibilities

• Organizing practices and games
• Monitoring the academic progress of student athletes throughout the school year
• Issuing and collecting uniforms
• Providing an orientation of a sound program to all student athlete participants
• Communicating with coaches and athletic director on the progression of the student athletes and the team
• Ensuring that academics have priority over athletics
• Being on time to all scheduled athletic events
• Training each student-athlete to achieve optimal physical condition
• Collecting athlete documentation such as physicals and other important paperwork in compliance with State and YES Prep policies
• Staying with the team until the last student-athlete and their parents/guardians are accounted for
• Performing additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 0-3 years of coaching experience
• Strong knowledge of specific sport including rules and terminology

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
• Continued Education in specific sport
• Experience working with kids
