About the position

The High School Humanities Teacher at Guidepost Academy Online is responsible for facilitating a unique educational experience that emphasizes history, humanism, and heroism. This role involves working with students in a virtual environment, promoting individual agency, and fostering a supportive community that aligns with the school's core values. The teacher will apply and individualize the GPA Humanities curriculum, provide 1:1 coaching, and collaborate with colleagues and parents to support student development.

Responsibilities

• Work with GPA program experts to apply and individualize the GPA Humanities curriculum for your classroom.
• Facilitate student progression through math and science coursework through regular feedback and assessment.
• Provide opportunities for students to apply topics in interdisciplinary projects and real-world problems.
• Conduct 1:1 coaching for a cohort of students, focusing on their personal, academic, and social development.
• Establish and model a strong, supportive community that upholds GPA's core values.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the GPA network to improve the program and support students.
• Partner with parents to ensure students are fully supported at home and at school.

Requirements

• Demonstrated passion for GPA subjects, preferably with a BS+ advanced degree or professional experience in a math or science field.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience as a mentor, coach, or advisor of adolescents.
• Deep commitment to the pursuit of truth.
