About the position

The Ithaca City School District is seeking a qualified candidate for a Music K-12 Teaching position. This role requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse educational environment, particularly in the context of music education. Responsibilities

  • Engage students with meaningful orchestral repertoire that affirms diverse student identities and cultures.
  • Foster joy, confidence, student leadership, and community within the school setting through orchestra.
  • Organize and plan for concerts, events, festivals, and trips.
  • Manage, maintain, and issue the district instrument inventory using the school district's inventory and purchasing systems.
  • Utilize the learning management system for orchestra courses and communicate effectively with caregivers and students.

Requirements

  • Possess New York State Music K-12 Teaching Certification.
  • Demonstrate a basic awareness of the district's commitment to eliminating race, class, and disability as predictors of academic performance.
