Equality Charter School provides a high level of academic rigor in a nurturing learning community that prepares scholars to be career-ready in college. Responsibilities
- Develop daily lesson plans
- Collaborate with co-teachers and other support staff to ensure all students' needs are met
- Maintain a highly-engaged classroom setting that promotes good order and a love of learning
- Highlight student voices and promote student-led discovery of meaning
- Complete all grades and comments in a timely fashion
- Use data to drive instructional decisions
- Serve as a key team member, striving to collaborate whenever possible
- Participate in professional development opportunities that are either presented by Equality or independently identified
- Participate in and contribute to teacher team meetings, PLC meetings, data inquiry team meetings and coaching meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (Master's Preferred)
- New York State Teaching Certification (or in process of reciprocity)
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Effective interpersonal communication skills with colleagues, parents, and students
- Ability to incorporate reading and writing strategies in classroom instruction
- Ability to incorporate hands-on and cooperative learning activities
- Proven track record of successfully working with Equality's student population
- Experience working with diverse student groupings that may include a range of ELL students, special education students, general education students, and gifted students
- Strong interpersonal skills and track record of collaborating with diverse stakeholders (Colleagues, parents and scholars)
- Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proactive and creative problem-solver
- Values input and feedback
- Team player capable of working both collaboratively and independently
- Strong recommendations from prior employers and colleagues
Nice-to-haves
- A Master's degree in related field preferred
- NYS certification in field preferred
