Equality Charter School provides a high level of academic rigor in a nurturing learning community that prepares scholars to be career-ready in college. Responsibilities

  • Develop daily lesson plans
  • Collaborate with co-teachers and other support staff to ensure all students' needs are met
  • Maintain a highly-engaged classroom setting that promotes good order and a love of learning
  • Highlight student voices and promote student-led discovery of meaning
  • Complete all grades and comments in a timely fashion
  • Use data to drive instructional decisions
  • Serve as a key team member, striving to collaborate whenever possible
  • Participate in professional development opportunities that are either presented by Equality or independently identified
  • Participate in and contribute to teacher team meetings, PLC meetings, data inquiry team meetings and coaching meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's Preferred)
  • New York State Teaching Certification (or in process of reciprocity)
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills with colleagues, parents, and students
  • Ability to incorporate reading and writing strategies in classroom instruction
  • Ability to incorporate hands-on and cooperative learning activities
  • Proven track record of successfully working with Equality's student population
  • Experience working with diverse student groupings that may include a range of ELL students, special education students, general education students, and gifted students
  • Strong interpersonal skills and track record of collaborating with diverse stakeholders (Colleagues, parents and scholars)
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Proactive and creative problem-solver
  • Values input and feedback
  • Team player capable of working both collaboratively and independently
  • Strong recommendations from prior employers and colleagues

Nice-to-haves

  • A Master's degree in related field preferred
  • NYS certification in field preferred
