About the position

Freire Schools is seeking a dedicated High School Spanish Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year at TECH Freire Charter School, located in North Philadelphia. Established in 1999, Freire Schools is a network of four charter schools committed to preparing students from historically underserved communities for success in college and beyond. As a Spanish Teacher, you will be an integral part of our instructional team, utilizing a high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum to foster critical thinking and high achievement among students. You will create a classroom culture that promotes respect, learning, and academic excellence, while leveraging content-specific materials to enhance problem-solving skills. Your role will also involve maintaining consistent communication with families regarding student progress and actively participating in professional development to collaborate with staff and address the diverse needs of our students. At TECH Freire, we blend state-of-the-art equipment and hands-on learning with a rigorous liberal arts program, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for college. Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a classroom culture of critical thinking, learning, respect, and high achievement for all students.
  • Leverage content specific curriculum and create learning materials to promote critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Establish consistent communication rhythms with families regarding individual student progress and school related information.
  • Actively participate in professional development and collaboration with staff to support the needs of our students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Valid state teaching certification or the ability and willingness to obtain certification
  • Strong content knowledge and grasp of the Spanish language
  • At least 2 years of previous successful experience working with diverse student populations
  • Positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get a job done.
