About the position

The High School Spanish Teacher at Valor Collegiate Academies is responsible for teaching Spanish II to high school students, focusing on creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment. This full-time position requires collaboration with other educators to support diverse learners and involves planning lessons, assessing student progress, and mentoring students. The role emphasizes the importance of building relationships with students and families while upholding the school's values and commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, internalize, and plan daily lessons aligned with the Spanish curriculum.
  • Collaborate with EL and Special Education teachers to accommodate all students' needs.
  • Implement assessments to measure student progress and identify learning gaps.
  • Collect and analyze academic data to provide targeted instruction and interventions.
  • Engage in weekly coaching meetings to enhance instructional skills.
  • Submit lesson plans for feedback and participate in collaborative curriculum meetings.
  • Facilitate student Circles and implement SEL activities during mentor time.
  • Track and input student behavior feedback and maintain a positive school culture.
  • Serve as the main point-of-contact for families regarding student progress.
  • Participate in school events outside of normal hours, including parent-teacher conferences.

Requirements

  • Active Tennessee teaching license with endorsement in Spanish 6-12 or enrollment in a TDOE-approved Job-Embedded Program.
  • Strong content knowledge and instructional pedagogy.
  • Proven track record of success and student achievement in the classroom.
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship.
  • Commitment to serving a diverse community of students and families.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with school-wide tech platforms like Kickboard and Google Suite.
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new teaching methods and technologies.
