About the position

Esperanza Cyber Charter School (ECCS) is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven High School Spanish Teacher for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. Located in North Philadelphia, ECCS is committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for its teachers and staff. The school aims to prepare students in grades Kindergarten through 12 to thrive in a technologically advanced and interconnected world. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in delivering an academically rigorous and flexible online learning program tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. This includes a combination of curriculum choices, virtual tutoring, and counseling, with a focus on underserved and at-risk students who may not have found success in traditional educational settings. The High School Spanish Teacher will be responsible for implementing a coherent, research-based curriculum that engages students and promotes their academic progress. This role requires effective virtual classroom management, ensuring a disciplined school culture that upholds high academic and behavioral standards. The teacher will also be expected to document lesson plans, assignments, and instructional materials, while utilizing various assessment data to refine curricula and instructional practices. Building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues is essential to fostering a positive virtual classroom culture and ensuring student success. Candidates must possess a valid Pennsylvania Teacher Certification in Spanish and have at least two years of urban teaching experience, preferably in a virtual environment. Responsibilities

  • Assume personal responsibility for the academic progress of all students
  • Implement a coherent, research-based curriculum
  • Document all lesson plans, assignments, rubrics, and other instructional materials and methods
  • Use consistent school-wide practices and individualized methods to engage students in the classroom
  • Manage virtual classroom by creating, monitoring, and sustaining a disciplined school culture of high academic and behavioral standards
  • Provide virtual structure in the classroom by developing and reinforcing school-wide rules and expectations
  • Ensure smooth operation of all virtual classroom instructional functions without excuses or exceptions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • At least two years of urban teaching experience preferred
  • Valid Pennsylvania Teacher Certification in subject area; Spanish
  • Able to obtain all required clearance
