About the position

The High School Spanish Teacher plays a crucial role in establishing a rigorous and challenging educational program that fosters higher-level cognitive exploration. This position is responsible for motivating students to develop essential skills and knowledge for their future education and careers, while also maintaining effective relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develop lesson plans that align with District curriculum and cater to students' varying needs.
  • Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these to students.
  • Instruct students through diverse learning activities in the certified subject area.
  • Observe and evaluate students' academic performance, behavior, and social development.
  • Recognize and accommodate individual student differences in ability and learning styles.
  • Establish and enforce rules for positive behavior and maintain a conducive learning environment.
  • Promote a comfortable classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and learning.
  • Provide activities related to the subject area to enhance college and career readiness.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians about student performance.
  • Collaborate with school personnel on academic planning and best practices for curriculum development.
  • Enforce administrative policies and rules governing students.
  • Demonstrate ongoing professional growth by utilizing current teaching strategies and resources.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by District policies.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree specific to subject area requirements.
  • Pennsylvania State Teaching Certificate in designated curricular area(s).
  • Act 34/151/114/126/168 Clearances/Certifications required.
  • Must have PDE Certification.
  • Knowledge of current research, theory, and instructional practices.
  • Ability to think critically and problem-solve in relation to human learning and behavior.
  • Knowledge of educational protocols and procedures.
  • Knowledge of curriculum writing, assessment, and strategic planning.
  • Knowledge of classroom management and special education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with technology integration in the classroom.
  • Familiarity with Smart Boards and educational technology tools.
