About the position

The High School Spanish Teacher at Westlake Academy is responsible for providing engaging and effective instruction to students in grades 9-12, utilizing the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. The teacher will create a supportive learning environment that fosters intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, while also preparing students to become internationally minded individuals. This role requires collaboration with other educators and a commitment to professional development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction aligned with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) standards.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Assess student performance using formative and summative assessment tools.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment and manage student behavior effectively.
• Collaborate with IB coordinators and other teachers to enhance curriculum and instructional materials.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to support student learning and development.
• Participate in professional development and faculty meetings to stay updated on educational practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required; Graduate degree preferred.
• Texas certification in Spanish is desirable.
• Two years of experience in an educational or IB environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation, particularly in IB standards.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
