K12, a Stride Company, is dedicated to providing a high-quality, personalized education experience for students through online learning. The Special Education Teacher plays a crucial role in this mission by delivering specific course content in a virtual environment tailored to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities. This position requires a state-certified teacher who is responsible for managing the learning process, providing instruction, support, and guidance, and ensuring compliance with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). The teacher will work closely with students and their families to foster an engaging and effective learning experience, while also maintaining the necessary documentation and compliance required for special education services. The Special Education Teacher will be expected to communicate effectively with parents and related service staff to ensure that students receive appropriate therapies and support. This includes developing compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other required documentation, as well as facilitating collaborative meetings such as annual IEP meetings. The teacher will utilize provided resources to implement accommodations and modifications for students, ensuring their inclusion and success in the general education classroom. Data collection and analysis will be essential for monitoring student progress towards IEP goals, and the teacher will be responsible for documenting all interactions with parents and interventions with students. This full-time position requires the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, and maintain a professional home office environment. The teacher will provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences, demonstrating a commitment to personalizing learning for all students and maintaining high expectations for their success. The role also involves preparing students for standardized tests and supporting learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues in a virtual classroom setting. Additionally, the teacher may need to travel up to 20% of the time for professional development and student testing.
