About the position

The High School Teacher for Social Studies is responsible for instructing high school students in various aspects of social studies. This role involves planning and implementing lessons using current teaching strategies and theories, while also maintaining classroom discipline and supervising student behavior outside the classroom. The teacher will engage with parents and participate in professional development activities to enhance their teaching skills.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs students using various teaching methods, such as lecture, audiovisual aids, and demonstrations.
  • Assigns lessons and corrects homework; administers tests to evaluate students' progress and records results.
  • Maintains discipline in the classroom and supervises student behavior outside the classroom.
  • Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
  • Conducts parent/teacher conferences to review students' progress, performance, and behavior problems.
  • Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
  • Certification by the State of Georgia in Education T-4 to T-7 and content area specialization as required by the GaPSC.
